Discover the gold standard in tooth replacement with our state-of-the-art dental implants at York House Dental. Perfect for those looking to restore their smile, enhance facial contours, and improve oral health long-term.
A tooth implant is the closest that modern dentistry gets to replacing a like-for-like tooth and is considered the ‘gold standard’ of missing tooth replacement. Consisting of a highly engineered metal post or screw, a dental implant is anchored directly into the jaw at the missing tooth site. Once in position, it provides a secure and permanent base for the restoration (dental crown) to sit on top. Because the implant is hidden below the gum line, it can’t be seen and instead, all that people notice is a flawless, natural-looking, confidence-boosting smile. If you are curious about any aspect of the dental implant process, we invite you to come and talk to our York House treatment co-ordinator (TCO) who will answer all of your questions and concerns.
Dental implants provide a permanent solution for missing teeth, mimicking the natural tooth’s root and crown structure. They offer unparalleled stability and aesthetics, making them a superior choice for tooth replacement.

During an initial consultation, our dental implant dentist here in Chesham will evaluate your mouth to see if you are a suitable candidate for tooth implant treatment.
This is carried out using the latest digital scanning technology which takes accurate 3D images of the teeth and jawbone. These pictures determine whether there is sufficient bone density to support the dental implant. If not, our implant dentist may suggest a bone graft before going ahead with dental implant treatment.
Either way, a custom treatment plan will be developed based on your needs and requirements. In addition, our treatment coordinator will be available to answer any questions or concerns you might have.
This is an important stage of the dental implants process and is where the majority of the work is carried out.
Using x-rays and 3D imagery, our dentist will determine the exact positioning of your tooth implant taking into consideration factors like trajectory, depth and the avoidance of nearby nerves.
Since everything can be done virtually, there is no requirement for you to be present at this stage.
Once virtual planning is finalised an appointment will be arranged for our dental implant dentist to perform the surgery.
During a brief and comfortable process, the implant is carefully positioned into the jawbone at the missing tooth site. Following surgery, patients can return home.
Before leaving, our team will give you some medication to ease any initial discomfort you may feel during the short recovery period. We will also provide you with dental implant home-care instructions that you need to follow.
Patients typically need to allow 3-4 months for the bone tissue to heal and fuse with the titanium implant. This natural process known as osseointegration stabilises the implant, giving it the strength to support a dental crown, bridge or denture. During this period, patients can live their lives as normal and shouldn’t feel any discomfort. Crunchy and chewy foods, however, should be avoided at this stage to prevent dislodging the implant.
Don’t forget your implant isn’t yet a permanent part of your mouth so you will need to take care.
Once your tooth implant has successfully stabilised, another dental visit will be necessary to fit your permanent prosthetic. This is the final stage of the dental implant procedure leaving you with a beautiful flawless smile that has the potential to last for many years.
Most adults can receive implants, although some conditions like significant bone loss may require additional procedures such as bone grafts.
The procedure involves minimal discomfort, thanks to modern sedation and anaesthesia techniques. Most patients report that getting an implant is less painful than having a tooth extracted.
Treat them like your natural teeth: regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are essential to maintain implant health.
