We’re delighted to introduceAir Polishing, a gentle and highly effective way to remove surface stains and leave your teeth feeling beautifully clean. This new technology uses a controlled stream of warm water and fine powder to lift staining caused by tea, coffee, red wine and smoking — without the scraping sensation some patients find uncomfortable.
Air Polishing is now available at York House Dental Practice, and to celebrate the launch we are offering a special introductory package throughout January.
What Is Air Polishing?
Air Polishing is an advanced hygiene treatment used to remove soft plaque and surface staining on the teeth. Instead of traditional scraping instruments, it uses a combination ofair, water and a very fine powderthat gently cleans and polishes the enamel.
The technique is comfortable, minimally abrasive and ideal for patients looking for a smoother, brighter finish without whitening.
Who Is Air Polishing For?
Air Polishing is suitable for most patients, particularly those who:

- Smoke or have past smoking-related staining

What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your Air Polishing session is carried out during your routine hygiene visit.
1. Oral Health Assessment
Your Hygienist will examine your gums and teeth to ensure Air Polishing is suitable for you.
2. Hygiene Clean
Any plaque deposits are removed to prepare the surface of the teeth.
3. Air Polishing Treatment
A warm jet of fine powder and water is applied to lift stains and smooth the enamel.
4. Final Polish & Home-Care Advice
Your smile will feel noticeably cleaner and smoother, and your Hygienist will offer personalised advice to maintain the results.
The entire treatment is comfortable and usually completed in a single appointment.
How Long Do Results Last?
Most patients notice an immediate improvement in brightness and smoothness. How long it lasts depends on your lifestyle — especially tea, coffee, red wine and smoking. Many patients choose Air Polishing as part of their regular hygiene routine.

Is Air Polishing the same as whitening?
No — Air Polishing removes surface stains but does not change the internal colour of the tooth. It’s a natural brightening, not bleaching.
